PumpProtect®

Exactly formulated to the University of Wisconsin’s UW-MPS (Machine Perfusion Solution) formula, and production technology without autoclaving – chosen by dr Belzer as the only recommended method for production of solutions containing ribose and adenine. It is a sterile, non-pyrogenic and non-toxic solution for the in-vitro flushing and temporary continuous perfusion preservation of the explanted organs. EU CE certified medical device.

PumpProtect® is optimised for hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) of liver and kidney in providing an extracellular-like solution (high sodium, low potassium), mimicking the blood’s natural plasma to keep the blood vessels relaxed, dilated, and safe for continuous fluid flow.

The solution allows cold ischeamic continuous perfusion for a period of not more than 24 hours.

Produced in an aseptic filling process that eliminates thermal degradation of sugars and oxidation of ingredients caused by autoclaving.

Preparation & Use

PumpProtect® must be stored in liquid form between +2°C and +25°C, protected from sunlight, cooled before use, and never frozen.

Prior to administration PumpProtect® bags should be cooled to approximately 5°C (2°C to 8°C) and visually inspected for leaks, particulate matter, precipitates, contamination, turbidity, clarity and colour.

During organ retrieval, PumpProtect® is administered using standard organ preservation protocols to achieve cooling and continuous machine perfusion of organs.

PumpProtect® should be used by qualified healthcare professionals in accordance with transplant centre protocols. Donor organs must be flushed free of PumpProtect® prior to transplantation in accordance with the transplant centre’s protocols.

Carnamedica PumpProtect

Clinical Application

PumpProtect® is intended to be used for continuous hypothermic machine perfusion of organs (kidney and liver)   during their storage, transportation, until transplantation into a recipient for a period of not more than 24 hours.
