Advance in Diabetic Foot Care: Sudoscan’s Promising Technology
Sudoscan is a fast, easy-to-use, and safe non-invasive tool, which provides standardized skin conductance measurements within three minutes. The Sudoscan device measures the ability of the sweat glands to release chloride ions in response to an electrical stimulus.
Sudoscan has been used in the management of various conditions including diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and fibromyalgia. With CE and FDA certification, this technology offers reliable and consistent results with the unique benefit of an objective measurement of small nerve fiber function.

- A study confirmed that Sudoscan can detect neuropathy in patients with DM, with a sensitivity of 78% and a specificity of 92%, equivalent to or better than clinical neuropathy scores. Sudoscan results correlate significantly with clinical measures of neuropathy, somatic and autonomic function testing, and pain scores. Feet ESC was significantly decreased in patients with painful DN compared with the value in patients with nonpainful neuropathy. Test–retest reliability is excellent for the feet. - Additionally, another study confirmed the utility of Sudoscan in diabetic foot care by showing significantly higher feet asymmetry in diabetic foot patients compared to others.
